1st Grand-Son

Joshua Michael - first grandchild. 
Born in Tampa April 15, 2001
Parents:  Hope and Alan
Sibling:  brother - Caleb.

How we learn about the new arrival to our family?  Hope called to indicate her and Alan were coming over... we knew with the look on their faces we had good news.  Hope and Alan arrived with a bottle of Champagne. We toasted the occasion and took pictures of the new parents to be.

While we were waiting Joshua to be born, his mother created a game on a large black board in her kitchen. As friends came to visit they were to write a name on the board.

As time approached Hope picked from the names and made a list down the left side of the board for everyone to vote on their selection.

Well Papa and I (Nana) did not like mom's favorite - Papa kept telling her that he would call our first grandchild "MIKIE." Hope indicated he could not do that, as he would be confused as to why Papa was calling his this name :-) Well as the contest went along, each time we visited, Papa would put multi check marks by the name "Joshua."

Not real sure as to how much influence Papa had, but on the day of arrival - Alan asked Hope - OK what are we naming him and Hope told Alan "you" pick the name. Well they picked Joshua Michael.... and that name fits you very well. We are pleased!

A short time after delivery we were all at the nursery room window... what a site that was. While Alan was in the nursery video taping the weigh in and all the measurements... Alan looks up and meets eyes with his twin brother... tears were in each of their eyes (WOW what a moment).
